Tallinn University (TU) has acted as a promoter of new educational ideas and as a center for teacher training in Estonia for more than 80 years. During the last decade University has rapidly expanded, the number of students has grown from 2200 in 1992 to 6976 in 2002. Today TU is standing as a central training and research establishment in Tallinn , focusing its activities besides teacher training also to humanities, social and natural sciences, developing programs in sports and fine arts.
The aim of our University is to offer highly qualified and modern education at the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral levels, to facilitate high level research and to disseminate humanistic and democratic values in Estonian society. The location of the University in the capital city of Estonia has played an important role in its development into one of the leading universities of the country. The intellectual resources of the metropolitan area, its cultural and commercial environment and growing internationalization have benefited the rapid development of TU.
The number of researches is 82 and the total of academic staff is 381, in addition professors and lectures from abroad. More than 50 grants have been received through different grant schemes. Foreign students from Russia , United States of America , Hungary , Finland , Sweden and other European and non European countries are taking courses at TU. |
